Your child's success or lack of success in sports
DOES NOT indicate what kind of parent you are.

But having an athlete that is coach-able, respectful, a great teammate, mentally tough, resilient and tries their best

IS
a direct reflection of your parenting.

SHL Mission Statement
The purpose of our organization is to teach and promote youth hockey through friendly competition and to firmly instill the ideals of fair play, good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, pride, and respect for authority in each person participating in our league.

Guidelines for Parents and Coaches
The goal of the SHL is to develop a love of the sport in your child so that parents and coaches can share in this experience with him or her. "Winning" is fun and competition is healthy, but it is not the most important part of this program. Be on guard for over zealousness on your part.

Good Sportsmanship exhibited by players, coaches and parents is of paramount concern. The SHL expects parents and coaches to set a good example for their children. Smoking and usage of tobacco products will not be tolerated. We expect displays of good sportsmanship by all.
Verbal and/or Physical Abuse by players, coaches, parents, has no place in the SHL and may lead to expulsion from the league and/or removal from the premises.
Communication is the key to a successful experience by all. Attend our meetings, give us your ideas, volunteer, and become active in our league.
